Lyrics

I Wish I Were a Runaway

From school of life, duty's binding day
From hours of strife, dollars done that way
From endless worries, I'll flee one day
I wish I were a runaway

From greedy food, that steals its way
From luring dainties tempting play
From homely chairs, the couch to stay
I wish I were a runaway

Someday from natures given cup
My hallowed hands,
I'll drink to the brink
From care and tear,
I'll bathe my weary mind
In joyous new
I wish I were a runaway

And so I march to my own drum
Not left nor right, I carry on
Back to the light, I've come this way
I wish I were a runaway

Someday from natures given cup
My hallowed hands,
I'll drink to the brink
From care and tear,
I'll bathe my weary mind
In joyous new
I wish I were a runaway

So I rejoice to battle on
Sing my song forever on
Vanquishing every foe, I smite
Triumphant, ever merge with the starry light

Someday from natures given cup
My hallowed hands,
I'll drink to the brink
From care and tear,
I'll bathe my weary mind
In joyous new
I wish I were a runaway
I wish I were a runaway
I wish I were a runaway
I wish I were a runaway
